Cisco ASA Based Data Center Firewall Service Replacement

December 4, 2017

The Network Operations and Services team and the Information Security and Policy group are implementing bSecure, a new firewall and information security service for campus. This service will replace the existing Cisco ASA-based Data Center and Campus Departmental Firewall services.

As of December 31, 2017, the Network Operations and Services team will no longer provision new Cisco ASA-based Data Center Firewall Services.

All new firewall services in the Campus Data Center will be implemented on the new bSecure platform based on firewall technology provided by Palo Alto Networks. Campus Departmental Firewall Services will continue to be delivered on Cisco ASA-based systems for the time being. Existing Data Center Firewall services will be migrated to bSecure in the coming months in co-ordination with the administrators of those services.

Ordering and support for Data Center Firewall services will not change. To request a new firewall service in the campus Data Center, or modification of an existing service, place a request via the Telecommunications Catalog at http://tc.berkeley.edu/. Support for existing firewall services can be obtained via Campus Shared Services at https://berkeley.service-now.com/ess/.
