Fake Cal Store on Instagram

January 19, 2022

The Information Security Office recently learned of a fake Cal Store hosted on the Instagram platform. We have been in contact with the company to have it removed, but more could spring up. Review sites carefully before sending any personal information.

Tips That Something Seems Off:

  • Be extra wary of being selected as a winner, or through DMs in social media.
  • Scrutinize the details. Notice the extra "." after student? The real Cal Store is cal_student_store doesn't have the period.
  • Additionally, no other official Cal or Berkeley accounts follow this account.
